At the Greenwich Free School, pupils study Philosophy right from the start of year 7. They have two periods a week of Philosophy, and also participate in a weekly P4C session with their tutors.
Click here to find out what we are studying: We believe that children are natural philosophers: curious, inquisitive, and consistently asking big and brilliant questions in order to make sense of the world around them. Teaching Philosophy as a discrete subject allows them to explore the views of great thinkers from history, and has a fantastic impact on the development of their thinking and reasoning skills.
This website is primarily intended to be a method of documenting the progress pupils make at GFS, and exploring the impact that teaching philosophy can have on pupils of all abilities. However it may also be a useful resource for parents of GFS pupils, if they want to learn more about what their children are studying, or for other schools and teachers who are interested in helping pupils discover their own Love of Wisdom. |
