What can we know about God?
In trying to answer this question, we discussed a range of philosophical thought experiments, and looked in detail at some religious philosophers' arguments.
We have lots of different religions at GFS, as well as lots of atheists and agnostics. Before we started we talked about the importance of respecting other people's beliefs, and why religion is very important to some people. We also talked about the importance of living in a free society, where we are allowed to question those beliefs, and disagree with each other.
Here are some of the pupils' comments about studying this topic:
- If God is omnipotent, can He create a rock that He himself cannot move?
- What do different religions believe about the nature of God?
- Are there philosophical arguments that prove God exists?
